Vitamins to Lower Cholesterol

High levels of blood cholesterol could be a serious health problem. This could lead to the deposition of fats in the artery walls.   • Vitamin C:

Increasing the intake of vitamin C may provide some benefit in neutralizing the free radicals even before they could interact with the bad cholesterol. Potentially it also decreases the chances of developing both heart disease and high cholesterol levels in the blood.

  • Include non-vitamins:

    Although beta-sitosterol and sitostanol are non-vitamins, but supplement in your diet. They are the plant-derived substances which lower cholesterol levels when taken along with the diet. These are added as additives in some common products such as fruit juices and margarine.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids:

    Omega-3 fatty acids help by lowering the cholesterol levels. One of the best ways to take omega-3 fatty acids is to include cold-water fish. Intake of recommended amounts of omega-3 fatty acids help to maintain good cholesterol levels.

  • Calcium:

    Increasing the calcium intake or its supplement can decrease individuals’ cholesterol levels between 2-4 percent.
