Effect Of Saturated On Health:

Intake of food items rich in saturated fat increases the levels of bad cholesterol or LDL in the blood. This increase in the level of cholesterol increases the risk of heart stroke or attack in your body. So, it is advisable while taking in the saturated fat in your food. There are some food items which carry saturated fat in such a high quantity that their intake increases the cholesterol level instantly and shoots it up profoundly.

Foods Which Contain Saturated Fat:

Some of the food items which contain saturated fats are:

  • All animal and dairy products carry saturated fat in them. Like lamb, fatty beef, pork, beef fat, poultry with skin, cream, butter, lard, cheese and other dairy products made from whole milk or 2% fat-reduced milk.
  • Baked and fried items all carry saturated fat in high quantity.
  • Some foods of plant like palm oil, coconut oil, and palm kernel oil carry saturated fat in its primary form but these do not contain cholesterol in them.

Recommended Intake Of Saturated Fat On Daily Basis:

The recommended amount of saturated fat is less than 7% of the total intake of calories in a day. This means that if you are taking 2000 calories in the entire day then only 140 calories should come from saturated fat. This means that nearly 16grams of saturated fat can be taken in the entire day.
