Controlling Cholesterol Naturally

There are two ways to control cholesterol levels naturally which include:
Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) and Nutritional Supplements.

Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes

Changes in lifestyle are sometimes really difficult to make. Following are some of the changes you need to make:

  • Watch your food and diet

Mostly vegetables and fruits are fat free. Maintaining a diet which is made of 2/3 of fruits and vegetables and 1/3 of other foods can help.
Cholesterol lowering foods play an important role in lowering LDL and in a small increase of HDL levels.

Foods such as olive oil, avocados, almonds, shiitake mushrooms, soy beans, oat bran, chili peppers, garlic, onions, beans (pintos, black, navy, kidney, etc.), flax seed and fatty fish are cholesterol lowering foods.

  • Stop Smoking

Cigarette smoke contains ingredients which are extremely oxidizing. It is dangerous when the high cholesterol is oxidized. Antioxidants are very much necessary for smokers. Nicotine cravings can be reduced by using B Complex vitamins.

  • Exercise and Lose Weight

Exercise and maintaining ideal weight can give you good cardiovascular health. High-density lipoproteins level can be increased if you exercise at least for a few minutes every day.
