Triglycerides are fats present in the bloodstream and are produced from the food we eat. Consuming foods that are rich in simple sugars can significantly increase your triglyceride levels. This article gives information about triglycerides food.

Limit simple sugars

  • Substitute beverages like fruit drinks, colas, lemonade, iced tea, Kool-Aid and Hi-C with artificially made sweetened beverages that are labeled a�?dieta�? or a�?sugar free.a�?
  • Limit chocolates , candy bars, gummy bears and candies.
  • Avoid adding brown sugar or table sugar to cold or hot cereals. Instead, substitute them with sugar twin, brown sugar twin or sweet-n-low.
  • Choose mints or sugar-free gum instead of other regular versions.
  • Try low-sugar or light syrups on waffles and pancakes.
  • Do not take sugar more than 8% of total calories each day.
  • Spread crackers and breads with no added sugar jelly.
  • Do not take more than 8 grams of sugar per serving when you select cereals.
  • Reduce intake of frozen yogurt, sherbet, ice cream, flavored ices and gelato. These all contain high sugar levels.

Read the list of ingredients on food labels. Limit foods which contain the following ingredients:

  • Glucose
  • Sucrose
  • Fructose
  • Maltose
  • Molasses
  • Corn syrup
  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Honey

Naturally occurring sugars can also increase triglyceride levels when taken in excess amounts.

The following are some of the guidelines that help to limit natural sugars:

  • Choose light yogurt instead of regular yogurt.
  • Use molasses and honey sparingly a�� they both are high in sugar.
  • Take whole fruit instead of taking fruit juice.
  • Limit intake of beans, yams, corn, peas and mashed potatoes to A? cup.
  • Starchy vegetables are good source of nutrients and fiber, but still they can increase the triglycerides level when taken in large amounts.

Highly refined cereals, rice, crackers, pasta and breads convert to sugar much more quickly in the body and may increase your triglycerides level.
