Complementary Therapies for High Blood Pressure

Today, the medical science researchers have suggested various treatment options for high blood pressure. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a common health problem for many people today, which is mainly due to a stressful lifestyle. It is also associated with many other risk factors like obesity, alcoholism, smoking, aging and certain diseases like kidney diseases and diabetes.

People having high blood pressure often experience symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, headache, fatigue, blurred vision and restlessness. Excessive high blood pressure can lead to certain complications like stroke, heart attack, metabolic syndrome, renal failure and vision loss.

Alternative treatments for high blood pressure:

Today, there are many different treatment options available for lowering high blood pressure. Hypertension medications is one popular treatment used for high blood pressure, but it can give rise to some undesirable side effects. Therefore, most people now prefer to opt for alternative high blood pressure treatments.

There are quite a few natural remedies and therapies like relaxation techniques and aromatherapy, which can lower high blood pressure naturally. Out of which acupuncture and homeopathy are the two most reputed complementary therapies to aid in high blood pressure.

Acupuncture:

It involves putting needles at particular sites of the body. It has been used as a standard medical treatment and used in China for more than 5000 years. Now, it is popularly used for the treatment of many health conditions like back pain, where orthodox medicine fails to help in most cases.

However, there is no scientific proof that acupuncture can be used as an effective treatment for high blood pressure. But, there is certainly no harm in trying acupuncture. It can also be used as an effective aid for relaxation.

Homeopathy:

The remedies used in homeopathy are so diluted, that it is completely safe to use them. The word homeopathy derives from the Greek words which mean “similar” and “suffering”. Homeopathy contains diluted amounts of a substance which in larger amount would result in similar symptoms of the disease being treated.

There are no specific recommended homeopathic remedies for high blood pressure. Any treatments suggested by the practitioners would simply be for a general strengthening effect on your constitution. Homeopathic doctors usually reserve their complementary treatments for emotional illnesses, self-limiting or minor.
