What if bad cholesterol levels are too high? Avoid intake of foods that are high in LDL. Bad cholesterol foods that are to be avoided include saturated fats, trans fats and bad carbohydrates.

List of bad Cholesterol Foods to Avoid

Saturated fats:

These fats increase ldl levels in the body. Its intake should be less than 7 percent. These fats are found in coconut oil, beef, palm oil, pork, butter, poultry, red meat, creamy products, sausage, milk, cheese, butter, sour cream and margarine. Egg yolk has highest amounts of these fats.

Trans fats:

These are hydrogenated fats and three times as dangerous compared to saturated fats. Trans fats are found in processed foods such as bread, cereals, cakes, fast foods, biscuits, rolls, candies, chips, pastries, doughnuts, muffins and cookies.

Avoid bad carbohydrates:

These carbohydrates have a higher content of simple sugars in them. These sugars cause an increase in the levels of triglyceride and total cholesterol levels. White rice, potatoes, candy, popcorn, pizza, white bread and pasta are some of the bad carbohydrate foods.


Excess calories present in the body tend to get converted into triglycerides. Therefore these high calorie containing foods should be avoided in the diet. Honey, molasses, energy bars and alcoholic beverages are some of them.

Egg yolk:

Egg yolk and liver contain higher levels of bad cholesterol in them. Egg yolk contains 215 milligrams of LDL. Therefore, it is better to avoid it. Avoid fried foods and switch to grilled or broiled foods.

Increase raw foods in the diet. Foods rich in soluble fiber prevent the increase of LDL levels. Soluble fiber is found in oats, sprouts, carrots, pears and oranges.Therefore, avoiding bad cholesterol foods will be beneficial and helps to reduce the incidence of heart disease

  • Avoid smoking.
  • Loosing weight.
  • Taking monosaturated fats will help.
  • Include omega 3 fatty acids in the diet.
  • Include fruits and vegetables in the diet.
